Artist Statement
Being an imaginative thinker, I’ve always been deeply influenced by the media I consumed growing up. Comics captivated me, but I often felt the representation of powerful, complex female characters was limited, until I discovered the magical girl genre. The transformation from girlhood to womanhood in these stories resonated deeply with me, inspiring my own artistic explorations of strength, vulnerability, and growth.
In my work, my mark making and color choices are both emotional and bold, mirroring the intensity of these transformations. My subjects reflect personal, vulnerable aspects of identity, inviting viewers to connect with the raw beauty and power in these moments of transition. Through my art, I aim to capture not only the magic of these stories but also to create space for viewers to find pieces of themselves within each character's journey.
